Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada (WSWC) is thrilled to spotlight Brem Allen as the recipient of the 2023 WSWC Male Barefoot Athlete of the Year Award. His journey from the waters of his childhood to the pinnacle of international competition is a testament to dedication, passion and talent.

Born into a water skiing family, Brem’s attraction to the sport blossomed at a young age. His natural talent was evident from the start. Brem made his mark on the international stage, representing Canada in numerous World Barefoot Championships, including his first appearance in 2006 in Washington as part of the Canadian Junior Team. Since then, he has made notable appearances in Australia, Wisconsin, and Ontario.

Brem’s achievements in barefoot water skiing are nothing short of extraordinary. As the current Canadian Open Men’s jump record holder, with a distance of 26m, and a seven-time Canadian Open Men’s Champion, his dominance on the water is unparalleled. His consistent podium finishes at the National Championships, including three consecutive victories, solidify his status as a true champion in the sport.

While Brem’s accomplishments on the water are commendable, his impact extends far beyond the waves. As a Professional Arborist, he manages his own business and shares his expertise as a teacher at Sir Sanford Fleming College. Brem’s commitment to excellence transcends his athletic pursuits, embodying the values of hard work, perseverance, and dedication in every aspect of his life.

Despite his busy schedule, Brem finds time to nurture his passion for water skiing and share it with his family. His dedication to the sport is exemplified by his efforts to introduce his baby girl to the thrill of water skiing, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Brem’s remarkable journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes and a testament to the limitless potential of human endeavor. Congratulations to Brem Allen on this well-deserved accolade!
