2024 WSWC Female Development Show Ski Athlete of the Year: Grace De Piero
Grace De Piero has been an outstanding member of the development team for the past two summers. This year, Grace truly shined, demonstrating her positive attitude, enthusiasm for learning, and growth as a skier. Whether it was mastering new skills on her swivel ski, wakeboard, or even hitting the waterski jump, Grace consistently exceeded expectations. She competed in the first-ever Canadian swivel ski competition hosted by Knotty Girl and earned a well-deserved silver medal in the 180 division. Grace is a true team player and a role model for her peers. We are excited to watch her continued growth and success. Congratulations, Grace!
2024 WSWC Male Development Show Ski Athlete of the Year: Evan Core
Evan Core joined the development team this season as a newcomer to show skiing, and what a year it’s been! A well-rounded skier, Evan enjoys wakeboarding, freestyle jumping, and barefooting. He gained valuable experience competing in local shows in Bala and Orillia, Ontario, with Show Ski Canada, Summer Watersports, and Fern Resort. Evan placed 3rd in the intermediate division at the 2024 freestyle jump national competition, a remarkable achievement considering it was his first year in freestyle jumping. He also earned the Ride’s Choice Award for his flawless execution of every trick with a massive grab. Evan has made impressive strides this year, and we look forward to his continued growth. Well done, Evan!
2024 WSWC Female Show Ski Athlete of the Year: Alise Artichuk
Alise Artichuk had an exceptional year in 2024, leaving her mark on the Canadian show ski community. As a member of Team Canada, she is preparing for the world tournament in March 2025. She also stepped into a leadership role as one of the co-directors of the Show Ski Development team. Alise’s accomplishments this year include winning the Canadian stop of the Flaunt It Swivel Ski Competition, as well as countless hours spent behind the boat training. She’s known for her dedication, positive attitude, and unwavering support for her teammates. Show Ski Canada is proud to have Alise in our community, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate her achievements with this award. Congratulations, Alise!
2024 WSWC Male Show Ski Athlete of the Year: Baxter Legace
Baxter Legace has quickly become an essential part of Show Ski Canada. Heading into his second world tournament this March, Baxter is one of the most improved skiers in the community. He has played a key role in several major acts, including barefoot pyramids, around-the-boat stunts, and the four-tier pyramid. His signature act—skiing on a paddle into a barefoot bomber—has earned him recognition. Baxter’s passion, dedication, and willingness to help his teammates at every turn make him a true leader. We are excited to see what the future holds for Baxter, and we congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.
