Water Ski Wakeboard Ontario (WSWO) offers annual coaching courses for individuals looking to become Foundations-level trained instructors, as well as for those seeking to further develop their coaching through discipline-specific training opportunities. Registration for the 2026 coaching courses is now open.
Foundations-Level Training
To obtain Foundations-level training, participants are required to complete two separate components:
- Part 1: Foundations (Virtual)
- Part 2: Boat Driving (In-Person) or Cable-Specific (In-Person)
Participants must register for each component individually based on their selected pathway.
2026 Course Schedule
Foundations Part 1 (Virtual)
- May 12 & 14 (6:00–10:00 PM)
- May 20 & 25 (6:00–10:00 PM)
Participation in both sessions is required.
Maximum 45 participants per course.
Cost: $226.00
Boat Driving Part 2 (In-Person)
- June 13 or 14 (one-day course)
Location: TBD
Maximum 32 participants.
Cost: $282.50
Cable-Specific Part 2 (In-Person)
- June 6
Location: What Wake Cable Park
Maximum 15 participants.
Please note: Food is not provided for in-person courses. Participants are required to bring their own meals and water.
Requirements for Active Coaching Status
To be recognized as an active coach, participants must:
- Successfully complete the Virtual Foundations training (Part 1) and either the Safe Boat Driving or Cable Operating workshop (Part 2)
- Hold a valid WSWO Active Membership (Adult-Community Level 2 or Youth-Community Level 2)
- Hold a valid First Aid/CPR (Level C) certification
- Hold a valid Canadian Pleasure Craft Operator Card (boat pathway only)
- Provide a Criminal Background Check (valid within three years of issue, if 18 years of age or older)
- Complete NCCP requirements, including:
- Safe Sport eModule
- Making Headway in Sport (concussion training)
- Making Ethical Decisions evaluation
- Be a minimum of 16 years of age as of June 1, 2026
