Madison Savory, a young water skier from Duncan, BC, is gearing up to compete in the 2024 IWWF Pan American Waterski Championships. Taking place in Bogotá, Colombia, from October 8-12, 2024, this international event will see Madison represent Canada on the U14 team, competing in both the Slalom and Trick events.
At just 12 years old, Madison’s dedication and passion for water skiing have earned her several major accolades, including:
- Gold Medal at the 2022 BC Summer Games
- Gold Medal in Slalom at the 2024 BC Provincials
- Gold Medal in Slalom and Trick at the 2024 Westerns
- Silver Medal in Slalom and Trick at the 2024 Nationals
Madison’s favourite water skiing memory to date is reaching shortline for the first time at the Western Championships. Looking ahead, her future goals include slaloming into 41 off, earning a scholarship for water skiing, and one day competing at a World Championships.
Her journey into water skiing began when she discovered an old pair of skis in her family’s shed at the lake. Though no one else in her family water skis, Madison fell in love with water skiing from the start. When she’s not on the water, Madison also enjoys highland dancing.
The 2024 IWWF Pan American Waterski Championships will bring together some of the top talent in the sport, and Madison is excited to compete against the best while also experiencing the unique culture of Colombia.
