DORIEN LLEWELLYN SECURES BRONZE OVERALL AT THE 2023 IWWF WORLD WATERSKI CHAMPIONSHIPS

Water Ski Canada proudly congratulates Alberta’s very own Dorien Llewellyn for clinching the bronze medal in the Men’s Overall category at the 2023 IWWF (International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation) World Waterski Championships held at Sunset Lakes, Groveland, Florida, from October 10-15, 2023.

Dorien’s exceptional performance was nothing short of inspiring. Despite facing adversity with a foot injury that had sidelined him for the majority of the season, he made a triumphant return to the world stage. This remarkable achievement at the World Championships was not only a testament to his dedication and talent but also a testament to his resilience.The championship marked his first overall tournament post-injury, and he made it count by not only participating but finishing on the podium.

Dorien displayed exemplary passion and skill throughout the tournament. With an impressive trick score of 11,090 points, he secured a 4th place finish. He also showcased a 64.1m/210ft jump, narrowly missing out on the finals. In the slalom event, Dorien scored 4.5 buoys at 10.75m/39off.

Dorien’s bronze medal win in the Men Overall category has only further solidified his status as one of Canada’s water skiing greats. Dorien’s incredible performance is an inspiration to aspiring water skiers across the nation, showcasing the kind of dedication and spirit that can overcome even the most challenging setbacks.

Dorien’s next event will be the 2023 Santiago Pan American Games in Chile next week.
