The 2025 IWWF World U21 Waterski Championships are in full swing at the picturesque Predator Bay Water Ski Club, where athletes from around the globe have gathered to showcase their skills on the water. The first Finals are set to commence this afternoon, Saturday, August 2, 2025.
The preliminary rounds over the past two days have been nothing short of exhilarating, with competitors delivering impressive performances across all disciplines. Water skiing at its best combines speed, strength, precision, and sky-high drama. Athletes defy gravity with flips and spins, all while maintaining remarkable control and finesse. In Jump, they generate incredible speed to soar hundreds of feet in the air, while in Slalom, they swing from side to side with power and control. Expect heart-pounding performances and sky-high moments as these athletes push the limits of the sport. Today, the action continues with the conclusion of the Jump preliminaries, followed by the eagerly anticipated Trick Finals in the afternoon.
Tomorrow, Sunday, August 3, 2025, promises even more excitement as the Slalom and Jump Finals take center stage, crowning the champions of these disciplines. Canada has already secured an impressive seven spots in the Finals, demonstrating their strength in the world of water skiing.
Among the standout athletes, Olivia Chute from Nova Scotia is in second place heading into the Women’s Trick Finals, while Hannah Stopnicki of Quebec is in third place, both ready to compete in what is expected to be an exciting finals.
In the Men’s Trick Finals, Jake Chambers of British Columbia has captured attention with an outstanding performance on day one, then having to await the final results of the preliminaries to confirm his place in the Finals.
The Slalom and Jump Finals will take place tomorrow, with Canada boasting some strong contenders. Olivia Chute (NS) and Kate Pinsonneault (BC) have both earned their spots in the Women’s Slalom Finals, with Pinsonneault skiing to a personal best to secure her place. In the Men’s Slalom Finals, Evan Kraus (AB) and Charlie Ross (ON) will be competing, with Charlie currently the top seed heading into the Finals.
As the competition intensifies, the big question remains: who will emerge victorious and claim the coveted titles in Slalom, Trick, Jump, and the Overall Title? With the Team Overall Title also on the line, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The stage is set for an epic battle, as athletes and teams give everything to secure their place as world champions.
