This page is aimed at providing WSWC athletes with a range of organizations that provide support programs, information, and advice for Canadian athletes, for both sport and life.
Multi-Sport Organizations Providing Athlete Direct Services 


The association of Canada’s national team athletes, is the only fully independent
and most inclusive athlete organization in the country and the first organization of its kind in the
world. As the collective voice of Canadian national team athletes, AthletesCAN ensures an
athlete centered sport system by developing athlete leaders who influence sport policy and, as

Membership – AthletesCAN membership is open to athletes who are currently competing
with, or have retired from, a Canadian National team within the past eight years in the
Olympics / Paralympics; Commonwealth Games; Pan / Parapan American Games; and sports
currently funded by Sport Canada competing at Senior World Championships. You can join

Sport Solution– Sport Solution is committed to helping national team athletes find
solutions to a wide range of sport related issues. The program offers access to free
information, as well as assistance and guidance on sport issues that may require legal
counsel, such as selection, carding and discipline disputes. Sport Solution information can be

IG Wealth Management Amateur Athletes Fund– IG Wealth Management established
an Amateur Athlete Bursary Fund for Canada’s top amateur athletes in 2000. Working in
partnership with AthletesCAN, the Fund awards twenty bursaries of $5,000 to Canadian
amateur athletes each year. Eligibility and application information can be found ICI

Purolator Inc. Shipping Program – Purolator Inc. and AthletesCAN understand that as
high-performance athletes, you have needs for reliable high-speed shipping. AthletesCAN

Dale Carnegie Scholarship – AthletesCAN, together with Dale Carnegie & Associates
offers scholarships to enable current and retired national team athletes to enroll in a Dale

National Car Rental & Enterprise Rent-A-Car Program
– An athlete’s travel, training
and competition schedule is already hectic enough without worrying about how to get from
point A to point B. Through a NEW strategic partnership with official suppliers National Car
Rental and Enterprise Rent-A-Car of Enterprise Holdings, AthletesCAN members and sport

ATHLETE FUNDING RESOURCES – There are a number of funding opportunities for high
performance athletes. AthletesCAN has created a page with links to a number of the funding

Game Plan, powered by Deloitte, is Canada’s total athlete wellness program that
strives to support national team athletes to live better and more holistic lives. Through the
development of their skills and network, athletes are able to focus on health, education, and
career opportunities both during their high-performance career and beyond. The program helps
to develop mentally stronger athletes who apply what they have learned as leaders in sport for
the betterment of themselves and their communities. Game Plan offers support by providing
resources in the areas of Career, Community, Education, Skill Development and Health. WEBSITE:

ATHLETE ELIGIBILITY– Game plan is open to Sport Canada carded athletes — or national
training group athletes deemed by their NSO to be at the senior national team level — in a
Paralympic, Olympic, Pan Am or Para Pan Am discipline. It is also open to athletes who met
the criteria above and who have retired within the past two years. Limited program access
and alumni benefits are available to athletes that have been retired for more than two years.

Cces/ Wada Anti-Doping

 The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) is an
independent, national, not-for-profit organization working for and on behalf of athletes, players,
coaches, parents, officials and administrators. We recognize that true sport can make a great
difference for individuals, communities and our country. We are committed to working
collaboratively to activate a values-based and principle-driven sport system; protecting the
integrity of sport from the negative forces of doping and other unethical threats; and advocating
for sport that is fair, safe and open to everyone.

CANADIAN ANTI-DOPING PROGRAM (CADP)– In the role of Canada’s national anti-doping
organization, the CCES implements and administers the CADP on behalf of the Canadian
sport community. The CADP is designed to prevent, deter and detect doping and serves to
protect the integrity of sport and the rights of clean athletes. All WSWC member athletes

ATHLETE ANTI-DOPING INFO– The CCES provides a number of online resources for athletes
with regards to anti-doping. They include:
Athlete Zone-Info on checking medications, testing procedures, education, whereabouts

Sport Information Resources Centre (SRIC)

Incorporated in 1973, SIRC, the Sport
Information Resource Centre, is Canada’s leader and most trusted partner in advancing sport
through knowledge and evidence. SIRC is committed to engaging with organizations and
individuals involved in the development of sport, recreation and physical education in Canada
and around the world, to enhance the capacity of our shared community to foster growth and

Canadian Olympic Committee (COC)

The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) leads the
achievement of Team Canada’s podium success and advances Olympic values across Canada.
Independent and predominantly privately funded, the COC delivers the resources that Canada’s
elite athletes need to perform at their best and give their everything every day. The COC is
responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including:

  • Canada’s participation in the Olympic, Pan American and Youth Olympic Games.
  • Selecting and supporting Canadian cities in bids to host Olympic, Olympic Winter and Pan
    American Games.
  • Managing a wide variety of cultural and educational programs promoting Olympic values

Sports Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada (SDRCC)

The Sport Dispute Resolution
Centre of Canada offers an innovative approach to dealing with disputes at the national level of
Canada’s sport system. SDRCC is helping to make some important changes in the culture of
sport. More information and better tools are reducing the number and severity of disputes.
Conflicts are being resolved more quickly and efficiently, which is particularly important in
situations where an athlete’s ability to compete is at stake.

The SDRCC is able to meet the needs of a wide range of people involved in the Canadian sport
system at the national level: members of National Sports Organizations and Multisport Services
Organizations, including athletes, coaches, officials, administrators and volunteers.
The SDRCC does not have jurisdiction to resolve disputes at the international, provincial, local
or professional levels, but all Internet-based dispute prevention initiatives are available to
everyone, no matter what level, through our Dispute Prevention Resource Centre.

Canadian Sport Helpline

The Canadian Sport Helpline is a national toll-free helpline
offering assistance to victims or witnesses of harassment, abuse or discrimination in sport.
Offered in partnership by the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada (SDRCC) and the
Canadian Centre for Mental Health in Sport (CCMHS), this anonymous, confidential,
independent service allows people to share and validate their concerns, obtain guidance on
required next steps, and get referrals to other resources for follow up.

A CCMHS team of practitioners with expertise in counselling, psychology and sport act as
helpline operators.
