Director’s & Officer’s Liability Insurance

SEPERATE APPLICATION                                      

Access to Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada’s optional Club Directors and Officers (D&O) Insurance Program, which protects your club’s directors and officers from personal liability associated with their wrongful acts, errors, and omissions in the performance of duties for your club such as alleged mismanagement of funds and negligent decisions affecting club members, participants, coaches, officials and others. Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada’s (WSWC) club insurance program has been designed to fit the needs of Canadian towed watersports clubs. Basic coverage is available for 5M policies. Additional optional coverage is available for an additional cost. Please see price list below.

 

What is defined as a club: An operation that acts as a non-profit organization and where every person involved with the club is a member of their respective provincial water ski and wakeboard association. This includes, but is not limited to,  club members, volunteers, staff, and every participant in club activities on or off the water.

 

PROGRAM BENEFITS INCLUDE:

  1. General Comprehensive Liability Insurance
  2. Business Exposure and Advertising. Listing on WSWC’s online affiliated club directory allowing water sports enthusiasts (and potential club members) in your area to find your club
  3. Access to Programs and Services (Rip N Ride Program). Official, athlete and coaching development programs to develop your club’s members and provide the necessary certifications for sanctioning events
  4. Access to low-cost watercraft insurance for individual and club-owned boats that is specifically tailored to meet the special needs of the water sports enthusiast through Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada’s Boat Insurance Provider – all the coverage and benefits you need, plus all those you want! PROCESSING OF APPLICATION

–  Applications will not be processed until all required documentation is submitted and payment is paid in full. We accept online payments through PayPal (credit card or debit) & Interac Transfer
– Applications will be processed in approximately 6 business days. “Rush” orders (less than 6 days) can be accommodated, for an additional $100.00
– All approved insurance applications will receive a certificate of insurance with the confirmation package. Due to nature of the program, fees may not be pro-rated and are non-refundable

Coverage is for the 12-month period, beginning on the latter of April 1, 2024 (or enrollment acceptance date) through to March 31, 2025.

Enrolment in the program has some pre-requisites. These relate largely to risk management steps related to extending insurance coverage and for assurances of quality programming.

Mandatory Basic Coverage $650 + Service Fee
Non Member Amendment $275.00

Additional coverage is available for clubs that run outreach programs to non-PSO members. Clubs that purchase the Non-PSO member amendment will have up to a maximum of 4 pulls per non-member. Non-PSO Additional pulls per non –members are available for an additional cost (5-8 pulls)

Rush Service $100.00

Applications will be processed in approximately 6 business days “Rush” orders (less than 6 business days) can be accommodated, for an additional $100.00

Hydrofoiling Coverage – Additional Application $275.00

Coverage for hydrofoiling towed water sport activities, can be covered within Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada’s (WSWC) insurance program, but only by special application and payment of an additional fee. Decision on whether to accept the application and offer the coverage is based upon safety considerations, and is at the sole discretion of WSWC.

Winch & Start Pools – Additional Application $275.00

Coverage for winch pulled towed water sport activities, or activities that involve a ‘start pool’ can be covered within Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada’s (WSWC) insurance program, but only by special application and payment of an additional fee. Decision on whether to accept the application and offer the coverage is based upon safety considerations, and is at the sole discretion of WSWC. The premium for adding winch coverage extends to a total of four (4) separate winch activities. An additional premium will apply for each activity beyond.

Additional Activities

Coverage for non-sanctioned activities that are not covered under WSWC’s policy may be insurable by underwriters by separate, additional policy and premium. Utilizing the same underwriter for possible multiple policies would help ensure that there are no gaps or disputes between underwriters as to which policy will respond if a claim arises.

Boat Insurance

The Coverage under the club insurance program is limited to general liability. It does not include, property insurance (i.e. boat equipment, ramps, docks), life insurance, boat insurance or accident insurance.

Step 2 : Membership Registration

Clubs must have 100% registration, meaning all club members must be registered with WSWC via their provincial association. Outreach and initiation activities are encouraged. However, for purposes of this program, a participant must become a member of the provincial association BEFORE the first time they access the club’s services. HOWEVER, additional coverage is available for clubs that run outreach programs to non-PSO members. Please review the program outline for more information

WSWC’S Coaching Program

Clubs that have individuals who provide primary coaching and instruction services are required to possess minimum certification levels with the Nationals Coaching Certification Program
