Water Ski Canada is thrilled to announce that Kate Pinsonneault from Penticton, BC, will be competing at the 2024 IWWF U17 World Waterski Championships in Calgary, Alberta, next week. Kate is one of 11 talented Canadian athletes participating in this prestigious event and is part of the 6-person Canadian Team vying for the Overall Team Title.
Kate will be showcasing her skills in Slalom, Trick, and Jump events, as well as competing for the Overall title, which combines scores from all three disciplines. This marks Kate’s second appearance at the U17 World Championships, making her the only member of the Canadian Team with prior world championship experience.
With five years of competitive water skiing under her belt, Kate has already achieved remarkable success. Her greatest accomplishment to date is qualifying for the Jr. US Masters two years in a row. Among her cherished memories is the BC Provincials money jump, a highlight in her skiing career.
Kate’s goals for the upcoming championships are ambitious and inspiring: to win the U17 Girls Jump and to secure a podium finish in the Overall category. An interesting fact about Kate is that her passion for jumping began with a unique incentive—her dad bribed her with a trampoline to encourage her to start jumping, and now she loves it.
Representing her country and family in her home country is a significant honour for Kate, and she is eagerly looking forward to competing at the championships this year.
