MUSKOKA WATER SKIER STRIKES GOLD AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Muskoka, ON’s Charlie Ross is the U21 World Champion in Slalom at the 2023 IWWF World U21 Waterski Championships in Chapala, MEX. 

With a preliminary round score of 2.5@10.25m/41off, Charlie Ross was top seed going into the  U21 Men’s Slalom Finals – meaning as the last skier out in the finals he knew exactly the score he needed to win. Charlie needed more than 6 buoys at 10.75m/39off to win the Championships. He rose to the challenge by scoring 1@10.25m/41off to take the win and become World Champion. 

Charlie has a great future ahead of him. He is the current U21 World Record holder with a score of 4@10.25m/41off. This is Charlie’s first gold medal at a World Championships. 

The 2023 IWWF World U21 Waterski Championships is taking place at Bocalaguna in Chapala, MEX from June 14-17, 2023. It brings the best U21 water skiers together from around the world as they compete to be crowned World Champion. 

Charlie trains in Muskoka, ON on Mary Jane Lake at Water Ski Muskoka with his family. Charlie follows in his father and sister’s footsteps of becoming a World Champion. Drew, Charlie’s dad is the 2012 World 35+ Slalom Champion and Neilly, Charlie’s sister is a multiple time World Champion in Slalom and Tricks.
