Water Ski Canada is proud to announce that Rebecca Ramsay, a water skier from New Liskeard, Ontario, will represent Canada on the Open Team at the upcoming 2024 IWWF Pan American Waterski Championships. The event will take place in Bogota, Colombia, from October 8-12, 2024. Ramsay, who trains at McClintock’s Ski School in Cambridge, Ontario, will compete in all three events: Slalom, Trick, and Jump.
A seasoned competitor, Rebecca has been skiing for eight years. Her personal bests include 3@12m in Slalom, 2710 points in Trick, and 40.3 metres in Jump. Her accomplishments on the international stage are equally remarkable, having been crowned the 2022 U21 Pan American Jump and Overall Champion, along with multiple National Championships.
One of Rebecca’s most cherished memories in her water skiing career was the 2022 Pan American Championships in Mexico, where she shared the stage with the late Micky Geller and fellow Ontario athlete. Both trained at McClintock’s Ski School and clinched Jump titles—a moment made even more special as it was their first and last international tournament together.
As Rebecca steps up to compete on the Open Team for the first time, her goal is to make the finals in any of the three events at the Pan American Championships.Rebecca’s journey to water skiing started at six years old at McClintock’s Water Ski School. She then quickly fell in love with the sport.
Outside of water skiing, Rebecca has had a remarkable career in snowmobile racing, where she competed for 13 years and became one of the youngest riders to win a Pro Women Championship.
Looking ahead to the Pan American Championships, Rebecca is excited to reconnect with friends from different countries and old teammates from her time at Florida Southern College. She’s also eager to cheer on her fellow Canadians and athletes she’s worked with over the years at McClintock’s Ski School as they compete in their first Pan American Championships.
