The 2026 IWWF World Over 35 Waterski Championships concluded Sunday after five days of competition at Predator Bay in Calgary, Alberta. The event welcomed more than 250 athletes from approximately 20 countries, with the world’s top Over 35 competitors battling for world titles in slalom, trick, jump, and overall.
Competing on home water, Team Canada delivered one of its strongest performances in championship history, winning 16 individual medals and finishing second in the Overall Team standings.
Canada’s medal haul included three world titles. Kole Magnowski (BC) captured gold in Over 35 Men’s Jump, while Pierre Plouffe (QC) claimed World Championship titles in both Over 70 Men’s Trick and Over 70 Men’s Overall. Plouffe also added a silver medal in the Over 70 Men’s Jump.
Canadian athletes also earned six silver medals. Amanda Amos (ON) finished second in both Over 35 Women’s Jump and Over 35 Women’s Overall while setting a new Canadian Record in jump. Parnell Pinette (BC) earned silver in Over 45 Men’s Jump, Damaris Barry (BC) claimed silver in Over 65 Women’s Jump while also establishing a new Canadian Record, and Gerry Whittaker (BC) earned silver medals in both Over 70 Men’s Trick and Over 70 Men’s Overall.
Seven bronze medals rounded out Canada’s impressive performance:
- Jamie Debruin (ON) – Over 35 Women’s Slalom
- Tiffany Edgecombe (AB) – Over 45 Women’s Slalom
- Brad Balon (AB) – Over 45 Men’s Jump
- Brad Balon (AB) – Over 45 Men’s Overall
- Todd Johnson – Over 55 Men’s Slalom
- Peter Person (BC) – Over 65 Men’s Overall
In total, Canadian athletes finished the championships with:
- 3 Gold
- 6 Silver
- 7 Bronze
- 16 Total Medals
The results reflect the strength of Canada’s water ski program across multiple age divisions and disciplines. Hosting the World Championships on home soil provided Canadian athletes with the opportunity to compete in front of family, friends, and fans while showcasing the sport to an international audience.
