U14 & U17 Team Finishes Strong at the CAN AM CHALLENGE

OTTAWA, Ontario – The 2017 Can Am Challenge took place at the Lake of Dreams in Jerseyville, Illinois on August 26 – 27. The world-record capability event showcased competitions between Canada and the U.S. The team was led by Stevie Collins and Alex Telford.

“It was an honour and privilege to return to the Can-Am Challenge, this time as a coach, as I had to opportunity to see the future of Canadian waterskiing.  As impressive as the skier’s performances were on the water, I was more impressed with their actions off the water.  In a short fews days, this talented group of young athletes transformed into a great Canadian team.  I want to give special recognition to our team manager Alex Telford; to host Paul Melnuk and would also like to thank all our parents and the volunteers who helped out on this world class event.” – Stevie Collins. 

 The U14 Team consisted of:

The Canadian Under 14 Water Ski Team tallied 7,090.06 points, just coming in short of the 8,740.29 points the U.S team had accumulated.  Team scores were based on the top-three team members’ overall scores for each of the three events (slalom, tricks and jumping).

 The U17 team consisted of:

Josh Edwards Saskatchewan U17
Lindsey Lambert Ontario U17
Carter Lucas Saskatchewan U17
Noah McCormick Ontario U17

After a great competition, the Canadian Under 17 Team tallied 5,673.24 points, falling behind the U.S.. Team scores were based on the top-three team members’ overall scores for each of the three events (slalom, tricks and jumping).
