UPDATE FROM WSWC, CEO, JASMINE NORTHCOTT

Hello & Happy New Year!

WSWC just wrapped up our last Team Canada event of 2022 with the Water Ski Team who finished 2nd at the U17 Worlds in Chile in early January! 2022 was a very successful year of competition across all our Sports and we are very proud of our Team Canada athletes who excelled both on and off the water! 2022 also marked another great season of activity with our clubs, schools, and events at both the regional and national level – all supported by a wonderful, towed water sports community who work hard behind the scenes to support the Sport year in year out – thank you!

2023 is shaping up to be another great year – but one that will mark change for the organization. I am writing to share with you that I have given the WSWC Board of Directors notice of my resignation as Chief Executive Officer, effective the end of February.

This community welcomed me into the fold in March 2015 and I am thankful for all the wonderful individuals I have had the privilege to work for and with during that time. I have truly enjoyed my time with WSWC, and I am honoured to have been in service to our athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and supporters – it really is the sense of community that I loved the most as this Sport naturally brings people together.

2023 for me personally will be marked by a new chapter as I transition into the role of Executive Director with the Shooting Federation of Canada, the National Sport Organization for the Olympic and Paralympic disciplines of target shooting; and the national governing body responsible for the promotion, development and governance of organized, recreational, and competitive target shooting in and for Canada.

While one could argue that change is hard – I see this as an opportunity for growth for the association. WSWC is on solid footing supported by very competent and professional staff who are excellent at what they do and a committed, caring, and skilled Board of Directors who will be working hard over the next several months to recruit for a new senior leader for the organization – stay tuned as the position of Executive Director will be posted shortly.

While I will be working with our staff, Board, Sport Councils and Committees to ensure a smooth transition as I close down my desk between now and the end of February, I am confident WSWC is in good hands.

I want to thank you for all that you do in support of towed water sports! Whether it is enjoying the sport with family and friends; pursuing excellence as an athlete; cheering from the shore; coaching, officiating, volunteering; or simply being a champion of the Sport – you matter, and we thank you! I wish the community a wonderful 2023 and thank you for making my tenure with WSWC a great one!

Yours in sport,

Jasmine
