Wake Committee Elections Open
Water Ski & Wakeboard Canada (WSWC) is continuing the 2025 Sport Committee Election process with the Wake Committee (Previously known as the Wake Council). Sport Committees give athletes, coaches, officials, and enthusiasts a direct voice in shaping their discipline.
Representing stakeholders across all five WSWC disciplines—Adaptive, Barefoot, Show Ski, Wake Sports, and Water Ski—Sport Committees play a vital role in ensuring progress and representation at every level.

WAKE COMMITTEE ELECTION
The Wake Committee election important dates are:
- Submissions Open: September 17, 2025
- Submissions Close: September 28, 2025
- Voter Registration Form Emailed to Members: September 28, 2025
(Registration form closes October 8, 2025 (UPDATED)) - Election: October 15, 2025
Eight elected positions are available.
All eligible members are encouraged to submit their submissions and take an active role in shaping the future of Wake Sports in Canada.
HOW TO APPLY
To apply, please email info@wswc.ca and include the following:
- a short bio describing your relevant experience with the sport, your qualifications and why you are interested in being on the committee.
- Your resume and photo.
Note, the submitter must be a member in good standing with their provincial sport organization and must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
SUBMISSIONS DUE: September 28, 2025
ELECTION & VOTING PROCESS
Once submissions close, members of WSWC’s Provincial Organizations, who have selected Wake as their primary discipline on their membership profile will be eligible to register to vote in the election.
- A registration form will be sent to the email address associated with your membership profile.
- Only members who complete this registration form will be able to vote.
- Registered voters will be invited to a Zoom meeting on October 15, 2025, where they will have the opportunity to meet the submitters and cast their ballot.
- Eight positions are available on the Wake Committee. Each registered voter will select their top Eight candidates on the ballot.
ELIGIBILITY TO SUBMIT, VOTE & PARTICIPATE IN THE ZOOM CALL
- Must be a member of Provincial Sport Organization (membership must have been purchased before September 30, 2025 (UPDATED)).
- Must be 18 years of age or older with the capacity to contract.
- Submissions made by non-members or by individuals under 18 will be destroyed immediately.
UPDATE: Members will be eligible to vote in more than one WSWC Sports Committee Election if they meet any of these criteria:
- You compete in more than one discipline.
- You are on a team in more than one discipline.
- You are an official in more than discipline.
- You are on more than one committee for different disciplines.
- You are a parent with a membership having a child or children who compete in more than one discipline.
- You host events in more than one discipline.
- You are a key volunteer in more than one discipline.
- Other scenarios will be considered.
If Members meet the above criteria, they must register to vote for each discipline for which they want to vote in.
WHAT DO SPORT COMMITTEES DO?
The Committee performs the following duties:
- Oversee the sports’ National Team programs, including promotion, funding, partnerships, fundraising, coaching and training.
- Oversee the development of the sports’ annual and quadrennial strategic directions, in alignment with the WSWC Strategic Plan.
- Evaluate progress of Domestic and High Performance programming against annual and quadrennial performance objectives.
- Oversee the development and ongoing review of rules, fees, policies, criteria, procedures and schedules.
- Oversee the planning and execution of National Championships, including promotions, funding, partnerships, and fundraising.
- Oversee the review and acceptance of results and records, as applicable.
- Oversee sport partnerships, sponsorships, promotions and partnerships.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and the Long-Term Athlete Development model (LTAD).
- Engage in advocacy specific to the sport.
