Canadian Water Ski and Wakeboard Athletes Conclude with Strong Performances at the 2025 Jr. Pan Am Games
August 21, 2025 – Asunción, Paraguay – Team Canada wrapped up an impressive showing in water ski and wakeboard at the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games, highlighted by five podium finishes and strong performances.
Jake Chambers Secures Bronze in Men’s Overall
British Columbia’s Jake Chambers capped off his Games with a bronze medal in Men’s Overall. Entering the finals in third position, Jake delivered consistent results across all three events. He narrowly missed a personal best in Slalom, scoring 1@11m/38off, before posting 6490 points in Trick and jumping 50.7m/166ft to solidify his place on the podium. This medal adds to the bronze he earned yesterday in Men’s Jump, marking a successful Games for Jake.
Kate Pinsonneault Finishes Fourth in Women’s Overall
British Columbia’s Kate Pinsonneault finished just shy of the podium with a strong 4th place in Women’s Overall. Despite an early fall in Slalom (1@14m/28off), she rebounded with a standout Trick performance of 3950 points, just shy of her new personal best set yesterday at 4050 points. Pinsonneault then led the field in Jump with the longest distance of the day at 43.2m/142ft. Her combined performances placed her fourth overall in the competition.
Jakob Taylor Rides to Fifth in Wakeboard Finals
British Columbia’s Jakob Taylor represented Canada in the Men’s Wakeboard Finals, finishing in 5th place against a talented international field. His finals ride followed strong showings in the qualifying round earlier this week.
Canadian Medal Highlights
Canada leaves the Jr. Pan Am Games water ski and wakeboard events with a total of five medals:
Charlie Ross (ON) – Gold, Men’s Slalom
Kate Pinsonneault (BC) – Gold, Women’s Jump
Jake Chambers (BC) – Bronze, Men’s Jump and Men’s Overall
Hannah Stopnicki (QC) – Bronze, Women’s Trick
Building on U21 Worlds Success
All four Canadian water skiers; Charlie, Kate, Jake, and Hannah, competed earlier this month at the 2025 IWWF World U21 Waterski Championships in Calgary, AB, where they contributed to Canada’s silver medal in the Overall Team Event. Their Jr. Pan Am Games performances build on that momentum, while a couple athletes now turn their focus to the 2025 Open World Championships next week.
About the 2025 Jr. Pan Am Games
The Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games are being held in Asunción, Paraguay, from August 9 to 23, 2025, featuring more than 4,000 athletes under the age of 23 from 41 countries competing across 28 sports and 42 disciplines. Team Canada is represented by 157 athletes competing in 22 sports. The Water Ski and Wakeboard events took place from August 18 to 21 at Lago Manene.
Canadian athletes once again demonstrated their skill, resilience, and promise for the future on the international stage, proudly representing the maple leaf in Paraguay.
